Ice machines which have undergone long time usage without filters will inevitably begin producing ice which tastes stagnant, due to a build up of bacterial slime inside the machine. Not only is this disgusting ice which will ruin any drink or food the ice has been in contact with, but, it can also make people ill. (You wouldn’t knowingly drink stagnant water, would you?)
It’s recommended you change your filters at least twice a year and maintain your machine regularly to ensure everything is in working order, the machine is clean, and the ice is clean.
