If you are about to purchase an ice machine there’s something very important you need to know before you make a purchase, which I’ll explain fully in this article. If you’ve already purchased one and are using it, it’s absolutely critical you read this article. Yes, it’s that serious. I’m talking about the filters – something most people are either completely unaware of or don’t consider important.
Installing an ice machine filter has 2 main benefits:
- It keeps the machine in good working order for longer, as impurities which inevitably wear and build up in all liquid machines are largely removed.
- With impurities mineral, bacterial and chemical removed from the water, the customer is left with a crystal clear, fresh tasting – even fresh smelling – ice.
Different types of machines require different filters, and this is largely dependent upon the size of the machine and the type of ice it produces. Machines which produce small pellet ice (nuggets) or flakes will usually never need more than two filters regardless of machine size, whereas large cube machines will sometimes require around three filters for best results.
